KS3
We run an adapted curriculum for pupils from year 7 to year 9. This includes work from the KS3 ICT Framework. The pupils have two hours per week in years 7, 8 and 9. Pupils cover aspects of ICT such as, Internet, Email, databases, spreadsheets, word processing and creating presentations. During KS3 correct working practices are worked on, which helps to develop skills to aid pupils both at KS4 and further into the future.
The curriculum has embedded SEAL, PELTS and APP to enhance the pupil’s capability as learners. Pupils are assessed in Year 7 and the aim will be for pupils to make the necessary two National Curriculum levels progress when they get to year 9. The curriculum has been designed so that independence, enjoyment and creativity are encouraged to aid progress with cross curricular benefits. An assessment for learning matrix is used to identify what levels pupils are up to and what they need to do to improve. They will also be formerly assessed at the end of each unit in order to validate the assessment level. Homework is regularly used to consolidate the learning of all the pupils and to enhance their understanding.
A major focus will be to plan, create and evaluate.
