In Media Studies you will explore the world of magazine, films,
television and radio broadcasts from a teenage point of view.
The course consists of four units of study:
- comics and magazines,
- radio,
- film and television
- advertising or computer games.
The course content requires you to demonstrate
the ability to; analyse existing media, hone your research
and critical
thinking skills; work on pre-production, production and post-production
skills for each of the units. This will result in the creation
of, for example, your own magazine cover, 5 minute radio slot,
television interview, film storyboard, product advertisement
or computer game design. You will work with specific IT software,
and equipment for visual and sound recording.
Qualifications In Media Studies all pupils will take the Entry Level qualification
and those that are able to will also take a GCSE. We have a
100% success rate with both these qualifications. Last year
saw the first year of GCSEs for Media Studies and pupils achieved
some very good results.
