Vocational

 
 

In line with the Governments 13-19 strategy Vocational Education is playing an increasingly important role in the curriculum at Oakwood High School. Currently the area encompasses a wide range of subjects, from Construction to Catering to Watersports to Hair and Beauty.

Qualifications that pupils are currently working towards include the following:

  • BTEC Introductory Certificate in Construction.
  • CACHE course.
  • Vehicle Fitting Level 1.
  • European Computer Driving Licence.
  • ASDAN.
  • NVQ Level 1 Watersports.
  • Level 1 Hair and Beauty.


From September 2008 Oakwood High School will be delivering the Creative and Media Specialised Diploma this will be followed by the delivery of the ICT and Construction and the Built Environment specialised diplomas in September 2009.

Vocational education aims to equip pupils with a range of industry specific skills that will help them move on to employment or further education.

Staff involved

Due to the nature of Vocational Education teaching is taught by teachers employed by Oakwood High School on a full time basis, teachers employed on a temporary contract and outside agencies.

Specialist Equipment/Facilities

Oakwood High School is fortunate to have a wide range of specialised facilities that enables vocational qualifications to be delivered to Oakwood pupils. These facilities are also available for use by pupils from other schools.
